Avon Party Bus

First off this is a picture heavy post.

A couple of week's back L came to stay with me and we popped into London to attend the Avon Party Bus.

How cute is the bus?

Its been a busy time for Avon, they have announced Alesha Dixon as the new face of Avon. She will be the spokeswoman for their make-up category and support domestic violence initiatives. The party bus was set up to include a nail area for you to have your nails done.

We also had some of the new make-up items set up to look at. There were two lovely True colour eyeshadow quad sets.

They also had the new Shine Attract lipsticks, which are half lipstick half gloss. They are really moisturising but full of colour!...Winner.

Here's a swatch of Guava and Happy pink...full review to come. We also got to see and try out the new Ideal Flawless Foundation.

The colour choice is fantastic, 16 colours in total.

The array of pale colour was great.

Here are the swatches of the palest colours. We were super lucky as well because the amazing Samantha and Nicola aka the Pixiwoos were showing off the new foundation. L got her's applied.

Here's L wearing the foundation.

L said it felt lovely and light on yet the coverage was great and she is looking to purchase as she liked it on so much. As its £12 its great value for money and the packaging looks sleek to, the foundation will be available in February.

We'd like to thank Avon for the invite and the Pixiwoo's.

Thanks

Hot Looks Intense

Today's post is a NOTD featuring Collection 2000 Hot Looks in Intense. I got mine from Morrisons for £1.78 which seemed a good price.

We have previously posted on Swizzles, Tutti Fruity, and BMX Bandit. Intense is a dark charcoal almost black nail polish with multi coloured tiny glitter.

It took 3 coats to get it opaque, but it applied easily.

These polishes really seem worth the money but L has mentioned they can be a bit patchy, I now need to go take a closer look at the rest of the colours! I really like the look of Jitterbug, Parma Violets, Fruit Loops, Mint Mojo and Bongo Beat

Have you tried Collection 2000 Hot Looks nail polish?

Thanks

NOTD Avon Nailwear Pro - Perfectly

This is a lovely peachy nude, that's great for the office. It's not that we can't wear bright bold colours where I work but it's often frowned upon - it doesn't always look professional!

It's actually my mum's hand in the picture so it's really her NOTD as she borrowed the polish.

I got this when I attended the Avon Party bus with K last week. It applies very easily and my mum was very impressed with the finish after just one coat. In the end she went for a second just to get a more opaque finish. Overall finish was streak free and glossy!

Very impressed - going to pick up done more if the range!

Help with the Best Beauty Products of 2011

Hey,

As it's coming to the end of the year (I can't believe it's gone so quick) we thought it would be good to look back over our favourite products.

But as this blog isn't just about mine and L's opinion we would love to get an idea of what your favourite Beauty Products of 2011 have been.

If you could please spare a few minutes to answer our survey that would be great! There is a quite few questions but they only require a brand or make for an answer, no need to explain why unless you want to.

Models Own gloss free with Diet Coke

We've already mentioned the most recent Diet Coke offer which you can see here. But essentially it's simply buy 2 bottled of Diet Coke and get a free Models Own gloss from a choice of 4.

I went for Glossy Pink but will probably pick up another one as they looked quite nice.

The gloss applies well and I don't find it too tacky, which is always good. Have to say that you don't really pick up much colour without pilling it on! Wonder if that's the same for the dark shades??

The offer is differently well worth a look especially if you pick up Diet Coke on your lunch anyway!

Available in most Boots

Liz Earle Botanical Essence No 1

When I received this I wasn’t even aware that Liz Earle had a perfume in their range. My initial opinion was that as usually the packaging was perfect, making the whole think look and feel expensive. It would make such a gorgeous gift for someone.

It’s a lovely naturally scented perfume – very musky aromatic scent to it. Sounds a bit strange but it really works. It makes it a great everyday scent which is very suited to the winter months. I find it too strong for a summer fragrance – I like my summer scents quite fruity.

If I’m honest I can’t see everyone liking this and personally I think the scent would suit someone more mature. I do prefer something with either a floral or fruity scent, but obviously it all depends on what works for you.

More Dr Bonner

I mentioned Dr Bonner 18 in 1 Magic soap a couple of week's ago, you can see the post here. This is just a little update post for you, I have tried a another flavour from the range called Hemp Rose which is lovely and floral.

I actually really like these liquid soaps so far, they remove all traces of make-up off my hands, are sensitive enough for the little one and leave my hands soft. Whats not to like?

The range is now going to be stocked at Topshop Oxford Circus so word seems to be spreading for Dr Bonner. The products are priced at £4.99 per 236ml bottle and are available in Lavender, Citrus, Almond, Peppermint, and Rose at Topshop Oxford Circus.

Find out more about Dr Bonner here.

Thanks

Watch Lust

Saw this in this weeks Look Magazine and I'm in love!!

Hinted to the Hubbie that I NEED it. Definitely on my Christmas Wish list, although at £179.00 it's a bit steep and the Hubbie does not like parting with his money!

Definitely keep an eye out over the next few weeks for our favourite gifts for all the family!

Healthy Mix Foundation

I've already talked about the new serum formula of this foundation, so as I already own this one I thought I should really share my opinion on it!

Bourjois is one of the few high-street/drugstore brands that's pale enough for me to use which is great and I've been using 10 hour Sleep Effect for a while and regularly repurchase. This is number 51, the lightest of the range.

The Health Mix Foundations contains fruit extracts which are supposed to boost the skins radiance and help improve the overall appearance:

  • Apricot - Radiance
  • Melon - Hydration
  • Apple - Anti-oxidant
  • Ginger - Energy

I love the coverage I get and it blends in well, but I personally think you need to moisturise well in the morning as it can settle in any dry patches. I apply a little on to a stipple brush and buff in.

Downsides - it's not as light as the 10 hour Sleep Effect and I prefer the texture and consistency of the Serum version. I also don't really notice much in the way of improvement to my skin.

It's a good foundation but I think it's better for normal/oily skin types as it really doesn't suit mine - definitely try theSerum version if you suffer from drier skin.

Skin Art Temporary Tattoos

I had loads of fun playing around with these!

I don’t have any Tattoos and have debated getting a small one on a few occasions, but I think it’s so difficult to choose the right one and then I always come back to the same thing – what is it going to look like when I 70!. Don’t get me wrong I do like the look of Tattoos on, but it all depends what and where it is.

For example my younger sister has (I want to say, but not entirely sure) 8? Some I think look great, others though just don’t look right.

So these for me are a great way of playing around with the idea – also it was just a lot of fun and we all had a go.

Right to apply:

1. Clean the area you intend to apply them too.

2. Cut out the one you want.

3. Position it on the area and place a damp cloth on top, holding it for around 1-2mins.

4. Slowly peel off and hopefully the Tattoo should be stuck where you wanted it.

You can tell with some of the bigger ones that their not real but it’s not as easy with the smaller ones. Loved the one on my finger.

They cost £8.00 from Boots and last around 3 to 5 days, I easily got 5 days wear with the one on my foot it so didn’t want to budge!
